MultiCD is a freeware program to let you play audio CDs and record sounds from them using the CD ROM drives connected to your computer.
This is version 1.4 of the program and is the first general release.
MultiCD Play Features
- supports multiple CD ROM drives: you can switch between drives while the program is running and have several CDs playing at once.
- select the CD track to play by typing the track number or by drag and drop
- supports playing tracks in shuffled order or saving a specific play sequence
- displays either the name of the track being played or track number
- remembers the audio input used by each CD drive. This saves you having to hunt around in control panels or control strips to hear the music
- MultiCD can also read the music in digital form directly from the CD and play it though the computer speaker(s)
MultiCD Record Features
- output sound formats supported: snd resource, AIFF, QuickTime, wave or AU
- supports 3 to 1, 6 to 1, IMA4, ITU mu and A law compression plus 8 and 16 bit uncompressed sounds
- supports a range of sample frequencies with an option to do anti-alias filtering
- amplify or reduce the volume of the sound during recording
- options to record the music backwards or remove silent periods on the start and end of the selection
- select the start and stop time to record from the CD to the nearest CD frame - record music directly from the CD in digital form or via the analog sound input on the computer.
Requires: System 7 or later, Sound Manager 3 or later, Apple CD-ROM drive(s)
The attached file is a sea containing both PPC and 68K versions, called MultiCD-PPC and MultiCD-68K respectively.
MultiCD is freeware in the sense that I don't expect payment for it but I would like to hear from people using it to find out where it ends up.
